I did have the urge inside to respond to comments regarding an advertisement Burger King put forth about "square butts" and SpongeBob Squarepants. The YouTube redux of the ad prompted responses from the public and I felt led to add constructive criticism. As it would happen, when I was into some decent discussion with one person, someone decided to flag all the comments as "spam" and prohibit further comments for the post. I have reposted them here this evening before YouTube decides to take them off.<br /><br />My posts are further down, as "sweetiekat57". I had a good discussion. It's never about pointing a finger; it's about providing productive and constructive critique and suggestions. Parenting should never be about pointing at others, but about nurturing and protecting our most precious gift--our children--and leading them into valuable lessons and growth. I respect the opinions of each person. I just wanted to provide good food for further thought and discussion. The results, obviously, were bothering some people who preferred not to *think* and respond, but to "react." <br /><br />People need to get back to thinking...and providing real comments. One person commented that a particular disturbing movie and show came out and "...no one bothered to comment then..."<br />When are we going to wake up and realize we *have* to speak up? If we let things go then everyone will have a field day with whatever comes forth from Hollywood and it just won't matter. One of these folks said they thought that "...sex doesn't bother kids anyway..."<br /><br />Guys, if you don't stand for something...and really STAND for something...then you stand for nothing. God didn't give us this life to throw it away. When I had that focus in my heart this day, I have learned that one of the things He wants to accomplish through me...is me going <span style="font-style: italic;">through Him</span>.<br /><br />My focus has changed so much over the past few years. I know I had to be taken apart to get there, and for that, I'm truly grateful. It was the most painful part of my life I have ever experienced. There has been much I have had to be stripped of and I know there is still more to come, just to be cleansed of the past I had held onto.<br /><br />To come into newness of life is like the day we were born--taken <span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-style: italic;">through</span></span> a portal to the next life. Changes in our continuing life are no different. True change requires us to go through doors, and to hang onto shreds of what didn't work, wisps of life you thought may change but can't, just isn't what God had in mind for you. He is able to take all things and make them into new. I don't intend to imply that God can't take what has happened in our yesterdays or our today and turn it around. Rather this, that when we hold onto all the parts of ourselves we were supposed to have turned over to Him, the parts we *think* we can "fix", something we <span style="font-style: italic;">feel</span> we can change rather than listen to God and know He has it all in His hands in the first place, then we are holding on to a tenuous thread...which is already doomed to break. And we fall. Again.<br /><br />I am learning this part today. I have also learned today that I have been holding onto threads of things which have only managed to tangle me rather than free me. I'm letting go of the threads and hanging onto the lifeline, Jesus, today. Those are threads which will never break. And so the new life portal awaits. I'm diving in.
